Hillbank Pest Control 5112
1) Why did you decide to join Jim’s Pest Control?
Two main reasons I decided to join Jim’s was
- I have always wanted to work for myself but didn’t have the confidence to go out on my own, having the Jim’s brand behind me has given me the advantage of having a well-known brand and support I needed to succeed.
- I love the idea of being in the service industry and helping people solve the problems that pest’s can cause. (every job is different)
2) What are your values?
Honesty is a very big value of mine. I believe in keeping my clients involved in every step of the service I am providing to them with honest information so that they can make informed, correct and safe decisions. I also believe in punctuation and getting the job done right first time so that people can get back to their everyday lives with peace of mind that the job has been done correctly.
3) What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work I love spending time with my family, We enjoy taking them to the football, movies and parks. I am very much into sport and my boys are starting to take after me and are involved in many different teams themselves.
4) What tips can you give to customers?
The best tip I could give a customer is arm yourself with as much information about a pest problem as possible but also remember that there is a lot of misleading information getting around. The best thing to do is get an experienced operator like myself in to investigate and give the best options in treating different situations. I will always give my clients the best chance to fix their problems even if that means offering a cheaper or less intrusive option then they have been given by other pest controllers.
5) What has been one of your most interesting jobs?
My first live capture of a bee swarm was interesting, I would have never thought I would be holding hundreds of angry bees in a bag and placing them in my vehicle, but that is exactly what we do. Not many people know we do this but where ever possible we will live capture bees and find them a new home with one of the many bee keepers in the local area. Not many pest controllers do this but it’s something we pride ourselves on.
6) How has your Jim’s Pest Control Franchise been for you since joining?
It has been a great experience thus far, to have the support of a great team is invaluable. Even though you run your own business you are never alone. The Jim’s brand has opened so many doors that if I was a “no name” pest controller would’ve never have happened. The fact that I wake up every day knowing that each day will hold different challenges really excites me, I never want to be stuck in a boring 9-5 job again.
7) Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
In 5 years’ time I see myself running a very successful business with a regular client list after building up a re pore with all my clients. I would like to continue to grow to provide a comfortable upbringing for my family and something that they could get involved in the future.
8) Pest issues that you find in your local community.
Termites are a common issue in the area. Unfortunately, with the era of the area there are a lot of timber retaining walls, pergolas etc. and are perfect for the silent destruction of termites. With regular termite inspections we can get on top of situations before they become too serious, we can also point out conditions conducive to a termite attack and prevent them from ever happening. Unfortunately, I have seen the damage they can do when gone undetected and I know that defence is the best offence when dealing with termites.
